ABOUT THE ARTIST
Dr. Sherry May M. Lorenzo is a licensed medical practitioner in the Philippines.
She took BA Psychology in UP Diliman as pre-medicine course (2008) and obtained medicine degree in De La Salle University (2012). She passed the medical board examinations in 2013.
She is often described by her friends and peers as fun-loving, generous, artistic, and a very good singer. Dr. Sherry used to be part of Saring Himig, the official chorale group of De La Salle Medical and Health Science Institute, and also performed in events, weddings, radio and other similar shows.
On 6 October 2017, Dr. Sherry, at the age of 30, suffered from a brain stroke which almost cost her life. The stroke paralyzed the right side of her body and caused speech problems — rendering her unable to practice medicine as a profession.
With a renewed purpose in life, Dr. Sherry believes that her present condition should not deter one of her passions — painting.
She used to be right-handed but now uses her left hand for writing and painting.
While she continues to undergo medication, Dr. Sherry also uses art as a therapy and as a medium to express her thoughts, to explore, and to empower.
With the support of family and friends, Dr. Sherry wants to start a movement to serve as an inspiration to persons with disabilities and for them to pursue their passions despite the obstacles in life.
